Chicago Montessori Residency
Welcome to the Chicago Montessori Residency Program (CMR).
The Chicago Montessori Residency engages teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators in a program designed specifically for high-needs, public PK–8 schools committed to providing a free Montessori education. In addition to the CMR summer institutes, CMR residents participate in bimonthly professional development workshops and receive coaching while working in the classroom. Upon successful completion of the program, residents will receive either a Montessori 6-9 teacher diploma (E1) or a Montessori 6-12 teacher diploma (E1-E2), depending on the course of study.
The purpose and responsibility of CMR is to draw on the best of Montessori practice to prepare high-achieving professionals to contribute to the healthy development and learning of underserved children, youths, and families, and the schools and communities in which they live.
The CMR mission is to grow the ranks of Montessori public schools for children living in underserved communities through a schoolwide professional development approach. Our vision is to empower schools by preparing teachers to develop students academically while meeting their social-emotional needs and supporting their families through positive experiences that promote individual and community-wide healing.
